Meet Rebecca
Rebecca is a strategist and builder, a former public interest lawyer, and a founder who has spent two decades creating mission-driven organizations. She specializes in turning complex ideas into executable strategies — finding the right people and resources, structuring partnerships, and driving implementation across government, philanthropy, business, and community. She is passionate about creating thoughtful, transformational, and win-win partnerships that span the public, private, and social sectors.
She has founded and led organizations spanning labor rights and global supply chains, entrepreneurship ecosystems, tech for good, and community-centered development — including Maven Women, the first socially conscious clothing line for U.S. professional women. She led a national nonprofit through a full turnaround across sixteen campuses, has advised and mentored hundreds of social entrepreneurs, and built a twenty-organization coalition of DC nonprofits. She co-founded Rooted Communities, an all-DC team advancing large-scale, community-centered development through adaptive reuse.
After completing a legal school fellowship in nonprofit and foundation advocacy at Alliance for Justice and worked as a labor and employment litigator at the U.S. Department of Commerce. She has served by invitation on U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Forced Labor Working Group. She graduated cum laude from Duke University and holds a J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Georgetown University.
Rebecca doesn't own a car, walks her kids to school, and lives in a pink rowhouse that is itself an adaptive reuse project. She believes in 15-minute cities, in innovation in placemaking, and in the power of hyperlocal community life. She lives in Washington, DC with her husband and two children, and shows up every day to elevate what's here.
